Try a food theme as your Fancy Dress

Now here’s a conundrum… is it possible to be an Oompa Loompa AND sexy at the same time?

At Party Britain we’re going to answer in the affirmative. That’s because we’ve just clapped eyes on the female chocolate factory worker fancy dress outfit.

We love the white dungarees, and brown top with black and white stripes to match the long socks. A pair of white gloves, orange face paint and a green bob wig and you’ll be the Belle of the ball or, at least, the sexiest chocolate factory worker at the party. There’s a male version too with long dungarees.

For youngsters born in the era of computer games, an Oompa Loompa was a vertically-challenged factory worker in the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring movie great Gene Wilder. The film wasn’t a great success at the time but shot to notoriety after appearing on TV screens just about every Christmas for decades.

Other food-related costumes in stock include Mr Peperami. This fancy dress outfit involves the wearer representing a stick of sausage meat (as you do) which in turn adorns a green reversible t-shirt. The elaborate headpiece has a bite taken out of it!

Mr Potato Head always causes a laugh at any party. And no wonder – the costume comes with padded white gloves and trademark black bowler hat. Anyone know in which 1995 Hollywood film Mr Potato Head made his screen debut? Answers on Mr Potato Head’s page on the Party Britain website…

There’s nowt scarier than a skelly…

Make no bones about it… those who’ve been telling everyone they’ve been on a diet recently will go down a storm with this Party Britain’s Halloween skeleton fancy dress costume.

Not only do the bones glow in the dark, but the LED heart lights up! Sweet. And there’s some fabby Bright Bones skeletal tights or stockings to complete the look.

For those who fancy their skeletal look a bit more unusual, this Skeleton King fancy dress costume really stands out thanks to its amazing attention to detail. For instance, the latex mask has a third eye, producing horns and attached ringlets.

Of course, the most horrific skeleton of all is the grim reaper. And we’re shuddering even as we write this. This Party Britain outfit has a particularly scary rubber mask with large eye holes.

And hey – the zombie look is definitely ‘in’ this year. With this skeleton zombie outfit you’re combining two ghouls in one go! We love this look actually. The distressed shirt, skeleton chest, trousers with leg bone… it all goes to together great to create one of the best costumes this year. And what’s that green stuff hanging from its ribs?

Parental skeletons who like the ‘mini-me’ factor will be delighted to see we also have a range of kiddie skelly fancy dress costumes. For instance there’s the skelly punk, skelly witch or skelly pirate captain. There’s even a neon version. There’s even a skelly baby bunting. Aaaaaaah! Ok this one’s cute rather than scary.

Whatever your skeletal preference we’re sure you’ll something on our shelves to get everyone shakin’.

Dress up your Party this Halloween

At Party Britain Towers we don’t just stock costumes y’know.

Apart from an assortment of tights, hats and gloves we also have a range of Knick knacks to make your Halloween go with a howl.

Take our bloody words gel cling for instance, he he. That’s sure to make granny go green. And if it’s a Halloween dinner you’re hosting then you want to be able to sprinkle your table with bite-sized pumpkins, bats and ghosts. And think about covering your old formica-topped table with a black witch-style gauze cover. The runner, with cobwebs, looks just as creepy.

Prior to entry though, you’ll want to alert your guests of the presence of zombie and other freaky creatures with our police keep-out style Halloween fright tape.

Planning on having shocktails, er cocktails? Then you’ll want our plastic skull goblets. Halloween punch meanwhile has never looked better than when sipped from our colourful creepy critter goblets.

We’ve also a couple of Halloween trophies – pumpkin or skeletal style – for best fancy dress costume at your event. But award the prizes in a smart fashion; you don’t want to be freaking any ghouls out.

Look out for uninvited guests too such as hanging broom-riding witches with flashing light-up eyes and a range of five creepy talking sounds. Makes us shudder just to think of it.

One more thing before we write-off…consider really transforming your room with giant wall stickers in the form of a creepy mansion. You may forget where you are and home may never be the same again…

Party Britain’s gone all Pumpkintastic for Halloween

Let’s face it, nothing says Halloween more than PUMPKIN.

Every supermarket the Party Britain team go into these days there’s a huge pile of them at the door just ready for a scary face to be carved into. But to save you time – and cutting your fingers as you saw away at that tough old pumpkin shell – we’ll give you the means to turn your own head into a pumpkin instead.

Yes, on the Party Britain shelves this month we have none other than at least two fancy dress pumpkin wigs. And boy are they cute.

Take this one for instance. The long carrot-top braids tied with green string look rather fetching, we think. We also love the more round pumpkin wig with a spike on top (just be careful when venturing near supermarkets!).

You could always go the whole hog of course and convert your entire body into a pumpkin. This fab adult fancy dress costume has a rather spectacular orange pumpkin-shaped skirt and puffed sleeves. It looks stunning with orange and black striped tights and black mini top hat. Again, there’s something rather sweet about this little number.

But you’re curious aren’t you? Why pumpkin and Halloween you say? Well… the reasoning goes back to Ireland 200 odd years ago and a stingy old drunk called Jack. He tricked the devil and made him promise not to take his soul. But when Jack died he discovered Heaven didn’t want his soul either because of his lifelong cruelness.

As a result he was forced to wander around in darkness. The devil felt sorry for him though and gave him an ember from the fires of Hell which Jack put into a hollowed out turnip. That became the Jack O’Lantern and the Irish would light a turnip at Hallow’s Eve to ward away the likes of Jack and other evil spirits.

Irish immigrants who moved to America at the beginning of the last century or so realised pumpkins, being bigger, made far better lanterns than turnips. And so the tradition was born!

Which Witch will you be with?

When it comes to dressing up at Halloween, the classic witch fancy dress costume is still the all-time popular choice for little girls.

However these days there’s a bit more to it than just putting on a big black hat, cape and a pointy nose. At Party Britain we’ve a whole selection of cute witch costumes – after all, these days witches come in all guises – good, funny and smart, as well as evil.

Take the Kitty Witch Halloween costume for instance. This includes a lovely pink and black dress with cat character and a really cute little hat.

The Pumpkin witch fancy dress outfit is another favourite. This is an eye-catching multi-coloured little ensemble which any little girl would be proud to put on. And your little angel is sure to love the little orange headband with matching green detail. Actually we’ve two of these to choose from – for an older school age youngster the outfit has a cute black braided waistcoat and larger hat with buckle. Snazzy, we think!

If your wee one is stuck on pink (and let’s face it – most little girls are) she’s going to love the Buttons and Bows witch fancy dress costume. This is a layered black and pink dress with glitter and cute bows on the tabard. For extra effect it’s glittered too. And the large pink hat is great. This Party Britain costume looks great with pink and black stripy tights. Just a suggestion…

Talking of wacky, the Fairy Witch dress is pink with a black corset style top and detailed green spider web trim on the sleeves and waistline. The black mesh-covered skirt really sets this little number off.

To add a final Halloween touch – and to carry sweets collected during trick or treating – aren’t these mini pumpkins cauldrons just the job?!

When it’s time to go a-witching…

When it comes to Halloween there’s one character practically synonymous with the event. And that’s why at Party Britain we’ve three – yes, that’s THREE – whole pages of witching outfits and accessories to choose from.

Whether you’re planning on being a truly horrible witch (boy, have we got a fab prosthetic nose!), naughty sexy witch, good witch or even a cute school girl version, you’ve come to the right place, rest assured.

One of our favourites though at Party Britain Towers has to be the inflatable fat witch. Pop along to the party normal size then just get that concealed battery-operated fan going. Try munching on a cake at the same time and watch the rest of the guests’ eyes pop out their heads as they see you going from skinny to super-size before their very eyes.

If it’s a witch-themed party you’re organising, grab a couple of our inflatable drinks cauldrons. At 22 inches high they’re a great way to keep cans and bottles cool. You’ll probably want several RIP skull-decorated gravestones lying around as well. These always look the part, especially with the odd skull neatly placed on top or left scattered around. The skulls come in packs of four but even just one is enough to give you the heeby jeebies, especially if it’s left lying around in a candle-lit room or stumbled over when least expected.

And, before we sign off there’s just one more witch fancy dress outfit we have to tell you about. We love this kids light-up costume. The fibre-optic stars and nearby spiders seemingly come to life, especially with movement. Any little girl would be just spellbound…

These costumes aren’t for clowning around in

Here at Party Britain Towers we’re been gearing up for some time now for the biggest event of our year.

Yes, you know exactly what we’re talking about – the night all the ghouls and ghastly gals come a knocking on our doors. We’ve gone
all out this year to find you the scariest costumes ever to line the dusty and dreaded shelves of your top fancy dress emporium.

And there’s quite an array to choose from. One of our favourites has to be the clown range. Traditionally the jokers, these ghastly gents are far from laughter inducing.

Take Bubbles The Clown for instance. Just look at that mask – if you can bring yourself to! Even without the padded muscled top and tattooed arms he’s gonna make any poor passing pedestrians run in the opposite direction. Take note of the bloodied eyeball and mouth.

Not scared yet? Ok then maybe it’s time to take a look at Bubble’s partner in crime Bo Bo. That spiky purple hair and horrid grin is bad enough but add the knife and black gloves and you’re gonna scare yourself when confronted by your reflection.

Bo Bo has a beau too. She has an amazing dress with sticky-out tutu which looks great for a party but with the cleaver and sensationally ripped tights, you know any party she’s attending isn’t for the faint-hearted.

Check out the rest of the callous clown outfits at Party Britain. Just don’t do it with the lights off!

Sex up Halloween with a Burlesque Bodice

She’s sexy, scary and her blush-inducing Burlesque routines are legendary. And now dear Party Britain blog readers you too can be just like Dita Von Teese… sort of.

We give you Dita Von Death – the sexiest Halloween costume this side of er, Halloween. This gorgeous skeleton-imprinted pink corset and black/pink skirt is enough to make any male shimmy up the nearest pole or pirouette on the spot. But add the miniature top hat, sexy laced arms and three quarter length striped stockings and you’ll have a cardiac on your hands if you’re not careful.

We’re sure the goddess who put the tease back into Striptease would approve. The former Playboy cover girl who was once wed to super-Goth Marilyn Manson, has won numerous awards for dress up and we’d never let her down with anything short of perfection fancy dress costume-wise.

And ladies, don’t worry if you didn’t get in there first. If your friend’s nabbed the Dita von Death costume, don’t worry, – you can match her in the sexy stakes with our sensational Madame Vamp number.

This ensemble is a bit like a naughty Moulin Rouge. Er, what are we saying the classic French show IS naughty. You can make this gorgeous, black, white and red corset and long skirt a tad more gothic with dark eye make-up and a matching red and black gossip choker. Better still, black gloves and a cigarette holder will seal any meandering male’s fate. Just try and be kind to the poor boys.

Learn to Yearn for the Living Dead

At Party Britain we’ve possibly got the top range of Zombie costumes in Europe, nay… the world.

And we’re not exaggerating! Click onto our Zombie fancy dress outfit range and take a look for yourself. You’ll be stunned into submission and probably walk around with a strange hypnotic look, maybe holding your arms out rigid in front of you…

Where to start? The range includes an American footballer, convict, school girl, Dr Gore, rocker, ghost pirate, gangster, mummy, and an even scarier punk than usual, to name but a few.

Our own personal favourite is the female black and white striped convict outfit with latex heart. We particularly love the pill box hat and white three-quarter length blood stained stockings.

Next best we reckon is the American Footballer with jagged cut trousers and unlucky number 13 painted on his blood stained tee-shirt. Like the convict fancy dress outfit this comes with a hat too – appropriately a foam number with mouth guard. If you’re going as a twosome this will look great with the Zombie school girl outfit.

Maybe you were more into music at school? Then how about the freaky punk fancy dress costume? This eye-catching number has a leather jacket with a blood dripping and disfigured chest piece. There’s also a very spiky headpiece and studded collar and cuffs. It’s a must for Sex Pistol zombie lovers everywhere.

And talking of zombies we hear Brad Pitt et al have now cleared Glasgow’s streets (which they’d blocked off for a fortnight) to film the post-apocalyptic zombie movie World War Z. The movie, which consisted of bringing around 1200 movie people to Scotland’s biggest city, is based on Max Brooks’ 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History Of The Zombie War, and is due to be released next year. We’ll be watching out for it with zombie costume in hand. But don’t worry – we’ll give you plenty of dressing up warning in advance.

Go for the Family Vamp look this Halloween

Now here’s a cutesy little number just arrived at Party Britain.

The Royal Vampira fancy dress costume for kids is a striking long black gothic dress with net sleeves, puff shoulders and dramatic stand-up collar. You think your child is scary as it is? Wait ‘til she puts this on!

And hubby needn’t feel left out either with our adult male Transylvanian Vampire Costume. This involves an all-in-one waist coat/shirt (we love the waistcoat!) with a gold medallion on the end of a red ribbon and, of course, a long black cape complete with dramatic silky inner lining. The cape comes with a stand-up collar for added scary/dramatic effect.

Now ladies, don’t start girning – because we have an absolute stunner for you too. The Gothic Manor Vampiress has a bit of a bat tail going on. In fact you couldn’t miss it! We promise people will stare when you enter any fancy dress party adorned in this fancy dress outfit. The fishtail dress, long sexy red arm gloves and the amazing collar complete with gargoyle jewellery will get everyone talking – especially when your bat tail knocks over their drink or sinks into their guacamole dip.

Why not head out as a vampire family at your next dress up night and which, fittingly, will be that celebration night of ghouls and dreadful demons – Halloween.
