With Royal Mail strike action scheduled for the end of this week (Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd October) we don’t want you fancy dressers panicking about delayed deliveries of fancy dress costumes. Royal Mail have advised that they have sound contingency plans in place to try and maintain a good level of service. However, the fundamental problem is the knock on effect that the strikes will have and the delays they will cause. So here is what we recommend you do to help ensure that you are not disappointed this Halloween.

If you are worried about not receiving your fancy dress order in time we strongly advise that you choose the Next Day Delivery option. This guarantees trackable, next day delivery before 4pm on orders placed before 5pm, Monday to Friday. There are a few postcode areas where Next Day Delivery is not possible (such as the Highlands and Islands of Scotland) so please refer to our website for further details. We use a courier company called APC Overnight for our Next Day Delivery service so providing that there are no major disasters your fancy dress costumes should be in safe hands!

Royal Mail have also advised that their Special Delivery service will also be affected by the strike action. Orders placed on Friday with Next Day Delivery will be delivered before 4pm on Monday with APC Overnight couriers. For this weekend only we cannot offer Saturday delivery.

This afternoon a tired and blister ridden Eddie Izzard is in the final stages of completing his amazing feat of 43 marathons in 51 days – I’m sure he is glad to have the finish line in sight. This reminded me of a few weeks ago when this cross dressing comic was in the early stages of his Sport Relief Challenge….I was driving into Party Britain HQ one morning and who do I see warming up at the side of the road, just meters from our fancy dress haven…Eddie Izzard himself – celeb spotting in Wales, excellent! I gave him and a toot and a heckle of support of course! Having spent much of his childhood growing up not far from here I’m sure he drummed up heaps of local support.

We’re quite fond of Eddie, not just because of the local ties but also because of his cross dressing antics. It seems that cross dressing is actually quite popular in the fancy dress world. We have recently launched a series of “half and half” fancy dress costumes, which includes a hysterical man/woman outfit. This costume is split down the middle with one half being a plush red velour evening dress and the other half being a gentlemen’s dinner jacket – it is proving rather popular! Hi fancy dressers!

Welcome to our first fancy dress blog entry. We’ve decided to get a blog going so that we can keep you updated on the fancy dress world and also what’s going on here at Party Britain HQ!

We are based in the pretty village of Llangan in South Wales and we are very fortunate to have views of rolling hills and the ocassional visit from some friendly sheep outside our windows!

It’s been a busy year for us so far, with the designing of a new website (which we hope you like!) and heaps of preparation for Halloween. Yes, that’s right, we’ve been working on Halloween since June – it’s all looking good with loads of great new fancy dress costumes. If you can’t wait until then to take a peak at our range, do not fear as we will be bringing you detailed costume info right here in our blog over the next couple of weeks.
