Exterminate Christmas boredom with DR Who fancy dress

Create your own Dr Who episodes at home this Christmas thanks to a selection of the BBC 1 show’s finest characters – which we just happen to have here in stock at Party Britain.

For instance, why not dress up as one of the infamous Daleks? Then there’s the even scarier Cybermen and the good doctor himself. Children will love getting into character and you’ll see their imaginations go into overdrive. In fact you’re bound to exterminate any thoughts of boredom with the fancy dress outfits which come in both Dalek blue and Dalek brown.

The stunning three piece Cyberman costume includes a full silver metallic mask, top and trousers while Dr Who, based on our current ever popular Matt Smith, comes with bow tie, braces and even wig!

Then again, if your youngster is more of a Top Gear fan than Dr Who then he or she will love the children’s Stig fancy dress costume. The white jumpsuit is adorned with the correct badges and logos and the mask itself has a visor. At least with this Stig get up you’ll know exactly who’s under the mask.

One way to have a Tree-mendous Party

At Party Britain we’ve a tree-mendous way to get into the Christmas spirit at your office party this year.

Yes, you’ll already have competition already at the venue – from the Christmas tree – but we’re sure you’ll be able to shine anyhow with the deluxe unisex Christmas tree fancy dress outfit.

This super-touch velvet green outfit has gold trim and its own Christmas decorations. And of course, the hat will ensure your top billing as the evening’s star.

Don’t fancy going to the office night out as a tree? How about an impersonation of a Christmas pud then?

The lightweight one-piece fancy dress outfit and matching hat will make sure you get more than a bite of the action. Just try and make sure saucy pudding isn’t there too. For she’s sure to whet a few appetites in her shiny little puff skirt and white dress. Her matching green and red holly headband is cute while a pair of white stockings is definitely the icing on the er, pudding.

On the subject of Christmas puddings, we couldn’t resist showing of our knowledge here. For instance, did you know the Christmas pudding (also known as the plum pudding) is an English tradition? It was originally made five weeks before the Big Day and boiled in a cloth. Silver coins and charms such as thimbles, rings and tiny wishbones were put into the mixture to bring all sorts of luck to those fortunate enough to get a trinket in their serving.

However, we’re sure the wearer of the saucy pudding will herself be ‘charm’ personified.

There’s nowt scarier than a skelly…

Make no bones about it… those who’ve been telling everyone they’ve been on a diet recently will go down a storm with this Party Britain’s Halloween skeleton fancy dress costume.

Not only do the bones glow in the dark, but the LED heart lights up! Sweet. And there’s some fabby Bright Bones skeletal tights or stockings to complete the look.

For those who fancy their skeletal look a bit more unusual, this Skeleton King fancy dress costume really stands out thanks to its amazing attention to detail. For instance, the latex mask has a third eye, producing horns and attached ringlets.

Of course, the most horrific skeleton of all is the grim reaper. And we’re shuddering even as we write this. This Party Britain outfit has a particularly scary rubber mask with large eye holes.

And hey – the zombie look is definitely ‘in’ this year. With this skeleton zombie outfit you’re combining two ghouls in one go! We love this look actually. The distressed shirt, skeleton chest, trousers with leg bone… it all goes to together great to create one of the best costumes this year. And what’s that green stuff hanging from its ribs?

Parental skeletons who like the ‘mini-me’ factor will be delighted to see we also have a range of kiddie skelly fancy dress costumes. For instance there’s the skelly punk, skelly witch or skelly pirate captain. There’s even a neon version. There’s even a skelly baby bunting. Aaaaaaah! Ok this one’s cute rather than scary.

Whatever your skeletal preference we’re sure you’ll something on our shelves to get everyone shakin’.

Which Witch will you be with?

When it comes to dressing up at Halloween, the classic witch fancy dress costume is still the all-time popular choice for little girls.

However these days there’s a bit more to it than just putting on a big black hat, cape and a pointy nose. At Party Britain we’ve a whole selection of cute witch costumes – after all, these days witches come in all guises – good, funny and smart, as well as evil.

Take the Kitty Witch Halloween costume for instance. This includes a lovely pink and black dress with cat character and a really cute little hat.

The Pumpkin witch fancy dress outfit is another favourite. This is an eye-catching multi-coloured little ensemble which any little girl would be proud to put on. And your little angel is sure to love the little orange headband with matching green detail. Actually we’ve two of these to choose from – for an older school age youngster the outfit has a cute black braided waistcoat and larger hat with buckle. Snazzy, we think!

If your wee one is stuck on pink (and let’s face it – most little girls are) she’s going to love the Buttons and Bows witch fancy dress costume. This is a layered black and pink dress with glitter and cute bows on the tabard. For extra effect it’s glittered too. And the large pink hat is great. This Party Britain costume looks great with pink and black stripy tights. Just a suggestion…

Talking of wacky, the Fairy Witch dress is pink with a black corset style top and detailed green spider web trim on the sleeves and waistline. The black mesh-covered skirt really sets this little number off.

To add a final Halloween touch – and to carry sweets collected during trick or treating – aren’t these mini pumpkins cauldrons just the job?!

When it’s time to go a-witching…

When it comes to Halloween there’s one character practically synonymous with the event. And that’s why at Party Britain we’ve three – yes, that’s THREE – whole pages of witching outfits and accessories to choose from.

Whether you’re planning on being a truly horrible witch (boy, have we got a fab prosthetic nose!), naughty sexy witch, good witch or even a cute school girl version, you’ve come to the right place, rest assured.

One of our favourites though at Party Britain Towers has to be the inflatable fat witch. Pop along to the party normal size then just get that concealed battery-operated fan going. Try munching on a cake at the same time and watch the rest of the guests’ eyes pop out their heads as they see you going from skinny to super-size before their very eyes.

If it’s a witch-themed party you’re organising, grab a couple of our inflatable drinks cauldrons. At 22 inches high they’re a great way to keep cans and bottles cool. You’ll probably want several RIP skull-decorated gravestones lying around as well. These always look the part, especially with the odd skull neatly placed on top or left scattered around. The skulls come in packs of four but even just one is enough to give you the heeby jeebies, especially if it’s left lying around in a candle-lit room or stumbled over when least expected.

And, before we sign off there’s just one more witch fancy dress outfit we have to tell you about. We love this kids light-up costume. The fibre-optic stars and nearby spiders seemingly come to life, especially with movement. Any little girl would be just spellbound…

Go footloose at the Festival

Here at Party Britain we’re gearing up to attend one of the biggest Fancy Dress Festivals this year.

In fact, we might already be there by the time you read this (8 to 11 Sept).

You know what we’re talking about without us even having to name it. Don’t you? Yep, it’s good old Bestival. That rather famous Isle of Wight festival, now in its seventh year and which just keeps getting better and better.

This year the guest list of performers include The Cure, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Primal Scream and Brian Wilson.

The Fancy Dress costume theme meanwhile is Rock Stars, pop Stars and Divas. So naturally we had a wee rummage through our cyber shelves before departing for the ferry.

And we came up with these marvels –

• Our female 80s rock star with all that black net, shiny leggings and spiky hair
• A classic Elton John lookalike wig and specs
• Our set of five Village People outfits (go as the whole crew and really give folks a laugh)
• 80s rock star costume complete with sexy (sort of) leopard skin trousers, black vest and hair band. There’s even an inflatable guitar and Alice Cooper wig to really top it all off!
• The officially licensed Michael Jackson Thriller costume – a super-cool red and black jacket with matching trousers
• Another for the ladies – a rather fetching leopard print skirt and jacket (we might even wear this on a night out to be honest – well, we’d take the shoulder pads out the jacket first!). This should be teamed with black fishnets and stilettos of course.

Planning to go to Bestival yourself? If so, we’d love to know which fancy dress outfit you wore and whether it was as fab as it sounds it’s going to be.

Stags Sure are Better in a Sixsome

Planning a raucous night out for a Stag Do in the near future? Want a fancy dress outfit which will ensure your image makes it onto everyone’s Facebook page?

Then grab a bunch of pals and go as the 2011 Village People. Here at Party Britain we’ve the entire official Village People costume collection – all six of them.

Take the Indian for instance. We can supply you with a plastic chest plate, brown loincloth, boot covers with gold ties finished in white faux fur and finally, the piece de resistance… the stunning headpiece.

The biker costume (the bloke at the front doing most of the singing) comes with capped hat, chain, top, harness and chaps.

Then there’s the sailor’s outfit, rugged construction worker and the motorcycle cop with shirt, trousers, boot covers, belt and ridiculous police helmet.

Finally, to complete, the saucy sixsome there’s the cowboy outfit. Our favourite fancy dress costume, this was always going to be the sexiest look thanks to the black leather-look waist coat, matching chaps and belt. The red bandana and gold sheriff’s badge give it that added Clint Eastwood feel.

Whatever your choice though, make sure that for added effect, you go out as a team. And maybe you can do a wee bit of singing and dancing too?

DIY doesn’t have to be Dreary

Come the summer months you often feel like doing a little DIY and refreshing your abode in time for the long winter evenings. Well, here at Party Britain we do anyway ‘cos let’s face it, there’s more than one day in June, July and August when the rain tends to make an appearance.

But ladies why let a little DIY project or two ruin your plans to seduce the hunky next door neighbour? We suggest, instead, that you up the ante and purchase our very own fancy dress Home wrecker outfit (currently on sale incidentally).

This rather sexy little fancy dress costume consists of a cute little off-the-shoulder number, yellow DIY apron and four plastic tools (well, we’d hate you to ruin that French manicure). There’s also a dinky little yellow hat to help hold those stray hairs off your face.

Still not convinced? Then how about the DIY Babe fancy dress outfit? Also reduced, this denim frilly number has orange ruched sleeves and, again, the convincing tool belt and tools. Worn with a pair of high heels, it won’t take much persuasion on your part to get the neighbour to lend a hand with those roof rafters.

Remember, here at Party Britain we do next day delivery (if ordered before 5pm Monday to Friday) as well as the standard postal version. And better still, both are eligible for our free returns policy.

Double your Chances of Making an Impression

Here at Party Britain we get quite a few enquiries from couples keen to put on a fancy dress costume double act.

This isn’t as difficult as it sounds with some costumes deliberately designed for pairing such as:

• bacon & eggs
• plug & socket
• mustard bottle & hot dog
• toothbrush & toothpaste tub
• patient (with plastic bum) & doctor
• fat chef and pizza outfit

Other combinations come separately but look brilliant together such as Batman & Sexy Robin or Maid Marion & Robin Hood. And what about Danny & Sandy in Grease? Or you could even go for a mix of decades with Lady Gaga & Elvis.

There’s always the downright funny angle too with the Baywatch Bodysuit (especially the ‘larger’ one). A great look would be the lithesome female in the former and the boyfriend wearing the ‘larger look’ Baywatch. Another great combination would be the groping granny and deluxe bodybuilder.

If you’re a mum and you’re going along to a family fancy dress costume day with your kids, why not dress up as Snow White and get the wee ones to put on Sleepy, Grumpy or Dopey fancy dress outfits? (Here at Party Britain we have the perfect seven dwarf masks).

But don’t take our word for it. Have a look through our cyber shelves and come up with your own combinations. Just remember to let us know about them though. We’d hate to miss out on anything!

Party Britain Promises a Hair-Raising Time

We were so impressed by Captain Jack Sparrow’s wig (check out our own Party Britain Caribbean pirate version) that we stopped off at our male fake locks section to try on a few for size.

Our favourite by far was the long flowing tresses of Vicky Pollard – in fact we’ve wigs for four of the Little Britain characters, including Lou. Take a look.

The Gothic vampire wig is pretty stunning too with its back-combed long back and grey streaks. The Count version, on the other hand, is simply bizarre and a real talking point.

You could probably venture down your local High Street in our Alice Cooper wig without too much notice but change it for the 80s New Romantics hairpiece and it’ll be a different story (gad’s we were all fooled into believing the geometric cut was pretty cool at the time too!).

Party Britain also has the other 80s trend – the Jason Donovan style mullet (remember, layers at the top and sides, shoulder-length at the back) or the 70’s Elton John short page.

Other show stopper wigs on our cyber shelves are the Fire Storm and Elvis Deluxe while the Edward Scissorhands headpiece needs absolutely no introduction to 90s film buffs.

After an exhausting – but fun – hour or two we came to the conclusion that fancy dress wigs are a great, inexpensive way of getting into a character without having to buy the whole outfit if you’re a bit strapped for cash.
