There’s no doubt that over the past decade fancy dress has evolved very quickly. Gone are the days of the one size fits all approach and old fashioned costumes. In has come a real sense of fashion and the desire to look good no matter what costume or outfit you wear. So much so that along with a wig and maybe an accessory or two you can now take your pick from some fancy footwear to finish off your fancy dress costume!

So the Pope arrived in Scotland today for his historic state visit to the UK as head of the Vatican and Catholic Church around the world. There has been controversy and celebration in equal measure regarding Benedict XVI’s trip, which is the first by a Pontiff since his predecessor John Paul II in 1982.

The visit will last for several days as the Pope travels to different parts of the country and no doubt it will continue to be covered extensively by the media. But what does all this have to do with fancy dress I hear you ask?
