There’s no doubt that over the past decade fancy dress has evolved very quickly. Gone are the days of the one size fits all approach and old fashioned costumes. In has come a real sense of fashion and the desire to look good no matter what costume or outfit you wear. So much so that along with a wig and maybe an accessory or two you can now take your pick from some fancy footwear to finish off your fancy dress costume!
With the decades theme always proving popular why not finish off your hippie dress with some colorful Go Go style boots from the 60’s! Or if you rather see yourself as John Travolta on the dancefloor treat yourself to a pair of Silver Disco Platform Shoes.
When it comes to other fancy dress themes there’s still something to choose from. There are red dolly shoes and even red glitter dolly shoes (pictured) which I think you’ll agree would be the perfect match for any Dorothy costume from the Wizard of Oz. But if you’d rather be a superhero for the evening then take a look at our Wonder Woman or Supergirl fancy dress boots.
So why not start a fancy dress shoe collection today – you would be sure to make Imelda Marcos proud!

So the Pope arrived in Scotland today for his historic state visit to the UK as head of the Vatican and Catholic Church around the world. There has been controversy and celebration in equal measure regarding Benedict XVI’s trip, which is the first by a Pontiff since his predecessor John Paul II in 1982.
The visit will last for several days as the Pope travels to different parts of the country and no doubt it will continue to be covered extensively by the media. But what does all this have to do with fancy dress I hear you ask? Well, if you’re off to a fancy dress party this weekend or over the next few weeks then why not choose a costume that’s with the moment and very topical.
We’ve had lots of calls and emails recently asking for Pope fancy dress outfits and as ever we’re happy to help. The first Pope fancy dress costume has a more traditional look to it with long robe and scull cap included and is available in a standard and XL size while the second option we have for a Pope costume has an off white robe, mitre hat and cross.
Either one is a lot of fun and we’re pretty sure that fellow party goers will recognise who you have dressed up as!

Okay so I’ve just counted and there’s only 53 days to go until Halloween 2010 which means one thing – you’d better start thinking about what fancy dress to wear.
I’ll concentrate on the fellas in this blog as we always need a helping hand when it comes to shopping. We’ve had quite a few arrivals this week of new men’s Halloween fancy dress costumes and I’ve choosen a few which are guaranteed to get everyone else talking about your outfit – all are available to buy online now.
What happens when you mix the 70’s with Halloween. You get the Disco Dracula fancy dress outfit of course! This quality costume will be sure to get you showing off all your dancing moves at any Halloween party. However, if it’s something more sophisticated that you’re after take a look at the Fever Male Baroque costume which oozes class and elegance. This costume also works great as a couples fancy dress idea with the Baroque Fantasy dress for the ladies.
Lastly, it was a hit last year with the kids and for this season Smiffys have made a grown up version of the Scary Clown costume. Coming in at just shy of fifty pounds this costume is a classic. The great thing about this outfit is you don’t need any other accessories to complete the look and also you could partner up with your child when you go trick or treating and create double trouble!
