Last night saw an epic Twenty20 battle with England beating South Africa by 39 runs. There was no shortage of thrills and excitement with six’s galore and some first class bowling. The atmosphere was electric, a non stop party filled with dancing, music and plenty of fancy dress outfits. There were some impressive men’s fancy dress costumes, including a group of lads turning up in the Village People fancy dress outfits and a Bananaman fancy dress costume for good measure.

The cameraman had a tendancy to focus on some rather attractive dancing girls every now and then. They were dressed in fairly skimpy numbers decorated with fancy dress feathers. Face paint and body paint were a hit amongst the crows, with guys opting for painted on six packs (which looked brilliant) and others venturing further going for a carnival fancy dress theme. The thing I loved the most was a pool and beach set up at one end of the ground. So fans could kick back, have a dip in the pool with a cool beer whilst watching a highly entertaining match – could it get any better?

Many of you may know that today, May 4th is often referred to as Star Wars Day due to the play on words with “May the 4th be with you” and “May the force be with you”. A slightly radical day of celebration, but each to their own. I can’t say that Party Britain has seen a huge increase in demand for Star Wars fancy dress costumes, but maybe it isn’t really a day for fancy dress action.
