If you’re celebrating New Years Eve in Berlin then look out for a fancy dress affair with a difference. Berlin’s annual run through the city sees hoards of participants in fancy dress costumes running past the bustling bars and restaurants. With prizes for the best fancy dress costumes you can guarantee to see some decent fancy dress efforts. Previous years have seen the likes of fancy dress witches, bear fancy dress costumes and Mexican fancy dress outfits running through the streets.

On finishing the run in the Mommsen Stadium the fancy dress runners can catch their breath and warm their cockles with a cup of gluwein and german pancakes – sounds scrumptious!

Whilst Mariah Carey was in town last week, performing in true diva style on the X-Factor, she decided to have a £200,000 launch party for her new album.

With Children In Need raising over £20 million it seems that there was no shortage of fancy dress fund raising efforts to help the total on its way. Here are a few more commendable fancy dress fund raising events that definitely deserve a mention…

Schools, colleges and businesses in North Lincolnshire really got into the fancy dress spirit. Children and adults got into their fancy dress costumes to help raise money. One student chose to dress up as Banana Man and managed to generate lots of cash as well as laughs from his choice of fancy dress costume. Scunthorpes Asda store saw a vibrant array of fancy dress costumes including Snow White, Mary Poppins and the Wizard of Oz fancy dress outfits. The security gaurd even joined in dressing up as a fancy dress jester!

Sheldon School in Chippenham went for a pirate fancy dress theme. The pupils came to school in their swashbuckling fancy dress costume and the sixth formers even attempted to form a mile long of 20p coins, ooh arrr!

In Dorset, Weymouth College went fancy dress crazy for a day. One construction student dressed up as a kinky construction worker, what a great fancy dress idea! We have DIY Babe and Home Wrecker fancy dress outfits that would fit the theme well. The whole class spent the day in fancy dress costumes, including the male lecturer who went as a fancy dress fairy – excellent!

The Avusy Rugby Club and the Touch Rugby Club of Geneva took part in a fancy dress touch rugby session earlier this year to raise money for Children In Need. This fancy dress sporting affair saw loads of fancy dress wigs, fancy dress superheroes and many more fancy dress ideas.

Staff and a student from Southampton City College took part in a fancy dress relay race. There was a pink panther fancy dress costume and Sylvester and Tigger fancy dress outfits. The five teams sprinted around campus in their fancy dress gear in a bid to raise money for charity.

Wexham Park Hospital held a themed fancy dress at work day last Friday. I’m sure that it was a roaring success with an array of fancy dress ideas – lets just hope you could still spot who the doctors were!

More than 850 people in festive fancy dress costumes enjoyed a winter wonderland treat in Worcester last week. There were reindeer fancy dress costumes, kid’s angel fancy dress outfits, snowmen and many more festive fancy dress ideas.

These fancy dress frolics were in aid of giving the Worcester Community Housing tenants an opportunity to find out more about the work of their landlords and what they could do to play a more active role in the community.

A Bermondsey school are displaying an alternative take on fancy dress costumes at the 794th Lord Mayors Show in London this Saturday. Instead of bringing out traditional fancy dress costumes the pupils and teachers have opted for fancy dress buildings! They have built a float based on London’s well known buildings and will take part in a fancy dress procession on the day.

So spectators of the fancy dress parade will see several of London’s tourist attractions walking down the road as a fancy dress costume. There are rumours of a St Pauls Cathedral fancy dress hat and a Lloyds Building fancy dress back pack. Approximately 6000 fancy dress participants will be taking part in the 3 mile fancy dress walk in a bid to fund singing and drama workshops for homeless and vulnerably housed people to help raise their self esteem and confidence.
